Beware, From Child Obesity Can Affect fertility

Who says only affected fertility as adults only, because the fertility rate has been determined from a young age. Child is proven that obesity can affect fertility in the future.

A new study published in the journal Frontiers in Endocrinology reveals that obesity is not only a precursor for a variety of health problems like heart disease and diabetes, but also affect fertility and puberty. Research conducted by researchers from Oregon State University found obesity more influence puberty and disrupt the normal secretion of kisspeptin, a hormone known to be important for reproduction.

Kisspeptin is a product resulting from the KISS-1 gene and is a key regulator of reproductive function. Animals and humans lacking kisspeptin function is not through puberty and sexually immature. If someone is not sexually mature because of hormonal problems and did not get a period, he suffered from hypothalamic amenorrhea which made him unable to conceive.

"The spectrum of extremes such as obesity or anorexia can be linked to reproductive problems," said study leader Patrick Chappell, as quoted by Medindia on Friday (03/08/2012).

Chappel said the current problem is that many people who are obese even from childhood, but also influence the nutritional status of reproductive ability. And the metabolic syndrome causes obesity is likely to affect a person's reproductive capacity.
